Characteristics

The trunk is mostly short, bent, very thorny and slight growing in closed populations. The sapwood and the heartwood are not sharply separated. The sapwood is narrow and somewhat lighter in color compared to the heartwood which is creamy white to light red brown and often discolored. Annual rings are easy to see. The structure is irregular, wavy and coarse grained, the texture is fine, constant and very thick. The wood is very hard, firm and heavy.
