Substitution
Woods of different kinds with similar coloration, stiffness and high hardness, like Macassar Ebony (Diospyros celebica), Goncalo Alves (Astronium graveolens) and Bubinga (Guibouriia tessmannii u. a.) as well as predominant brownish woods of the type Coria.

Characteristics
The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is narrow, yellowish to grey white, sometimes with a reddish tinge. The heartwood varies from gold brown to dark magenta brown with sometimes black veinings throughout. The darker stripes borders the growth layers and give the wood a typical, attractive effect, which beautiful emerge with the flat cut. It has a medium and constant texture, while the structure offers irregular twist. When freshly cut the wood has a pleasant smell. The wood is very hard, tenacious, moderate slipping and it is weatherproof.
