Characteristics
The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is light grey to grey white and worthless. The heartwood is red brown to dark brown, mostly beautiful and decorative veined. The wood highly corresponds in color and structure to the European Walnut. The structure mostly is straight grained, rarely cross-grain, the texture is very fine and constant. The wood has no specific taste or smell.
