Constructive – first of all, when smooth under surfaces are necessary – for Pacific coast Hemlock, Whitewood, Brazilian Pine as well as Maple, Pear, European Birch, Black Alder, Light Red Meranti and Lenga; decorative (stained) for Cherry and Walnut.

Chile, also isolated in Argentina.
Characteristics
The sapwood and the heartwood are not clearly different. The wood is light yellowish to yellowish-brown alternatively grey brown, whereas the darker wood is often patterned with darker veining. Growth layers and annual rings are hardly visible. Resin streaks are missing. The wood is straight grown and of fine, constant texture, very homogeneous. It has no specific taste or smell.
