Characteristics
The tree reaches a height of up to 45 m and a diameter of 2 m. The sapwood is grey and narrow, by the female tree broader, and distinguishable from the heartwood. The heartwood is light brown, similar to the Oak- and the Teak veneer. When freshly cut the heart is light grey to yellow, but it turns rapidly darker in air. The annual rings are clearly visible and they are characterised by darker zones.
