Characteristics

The sapwood is yellowish white and up to 15 cm wide. The heartwood is only partially formed, is soft yellow and hardly distinguishable from the sapwood. The dry wood has a peculiar brilliance and turns darker at light to light gold brown. The pores are rough, very small and hollow. The growth layers are visible by darker summerwood. Spiral grain occurs. The wood is fine-fibrous, simple, moderately slipping, light weight and soft.
