Characteristics
A 35 m high tree with a trunk, which is free of knots, up to 20 m, but seldom with a diameter over 90 cm, cylindrical grown. The sapwood is small, yellowish to pallid reddish, the heartwood is red to violet, after the centre it becomes brown black, later paled reddish brown. The wood is straight grained, hardly shrinks and is firm. The texture is fine. The wood resembles the American Walnut and is partly patterned with its veining in different color tones. Through this it has its decorative characteristics. The pores are medium-sized, scattered and numerous.
