Description

Botanical Name

Picea abies Karst. (Fam. Pinaceae)

Trade Names

Substitution

Indigenous to

Widespread throughout Europe from the North Pyrenees to Russia and Scandinavia.

Characteristics

similar in appearance to the Whitewood; Antique types of wood such as European Larch and Whitewood obtain by a complex steaming method and cooking process a similar appearance like traditional matured timber. An advantage of this method is due to the low cracking of the wood, wood-own frictions will be relieved to a large extent. A definite distinguishing feature to matured timber is the absence of wormholes and other, age-related mistakes because it actually is a matter of fresh wood. Because of the guided steaming- and cooking method is it possible to produce bigger amounts of similar veneers in the face of the wood structure and the coloring.
