Wood is one of the oldest and most versatile building materials. In addition to its superb qualities as constructional timber, today wood is also popular because of its warm and natural look.

The manufacturing of wood veneers takes great skill as well as experience. Similarly, the creation of textures out of such veneers is a very time and resources consuming task.

This is the remastered edition of the first part in our veneers series. All maps have been recreated using our current processing techniques. The result is an indispensable collection which is unique in its versatility and quality.

Wood #1, Size vs. Resolution

Area vs. Resolution

Each of these consists of three textures sets with different real-world size and resolution:

  • ~3m x 4m (10ft x 13ft) at 51dpi (6000px x 8000px)
  • ~3m x 1m (10ft x 3ft) at 85dpi (10000px x 3300px)
  • ~3m x 0.3m (10ft x 1ft) at 127dpi (15000px x 1800px)
  • NEW: ~1.3m x 1.3m (4ft x 4ft) at 85dpi (4096px x 4096px)

Because of these different scale variations, the textures can be used in a very broad range of applications – from large-scale wall paneling down to furniture close-ups.

New & Improved Maps

Beside an untreated and a varnished version of the diffuse color map, each texture consists of maps containing information to surface normals, surface height, and reflectivity – all essential for realistic rendering results.

Fully seamless 4K square version

A fully seamless version in 4096px x 4096px is now available for every texture. We chose a medium resolution of approx. 85dpi, marking the best compromise between surface coverage and detail.

Untreated version of the diffuse map

This map can be useful when recreating different kinds of less saturation/contrast enhancing finishes.
