Characteristics
The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is nearly white and in the breadth very different, the heartwood is brown violet to magenta violet, very fine and nearly constant striped black to black-violet. Therefore the wood is extremely decorative. The texture is fine and constant. The structure is straight grained, partly also wavy and light spiral grown. The wood is hard, heavy, firm, very low slipping, it is weatherproof and extremely durable.
