Characteristics
The sapwood and the heartwood are not sharply divided. The sapwood is nearly white and differently broad depending on location and origin, the heartwood is paly pink. The structure is mostly straight grained, the texture is medium-fine to rough and constant. The wood has no specific taste or smell. Annual rings are clearly visible to the naked eye. Spring wood is hardly distinguishable from summerwood.
