Characteristics

The sapwood and the heartwood are hardly distinguishable. The wood is nearly white or yellowish-white and yellows under influence of air and light. Annual rings come forward, especially in quarter sawing, as fine stripes. The structure is homogeneous and short-fibrous; the texture is very fine and constant, typically diffuse-porous.
