Characteristics
Young trees have smooth bark ranging from grey to yellow in color which cracks and distinctly separates with age.The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply deposited. The sapwood is nearly white and very strong, while the heartwood is light brown. Spring and summer wood are different in coloration. The wood is rough, fairly hard, coarse grained and not very durable.
