Substitution

All red woods with appropriate appearance and technical character, especially from the same family (Meliaceae) / like African Mahogany, Tiama and Sapele for veneers as well as Utile for the use of solid wood.

Indigenous to

Central America (all countries along the East Coast); South America (Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela).

Characteristics

The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is broad, whitely to grey. The heartwood is yellowish- to reddish brown and turns darker. The texture is simple, slightly flamy, by irregular twist striped, spotted, curled and flamy. The pores are medium to large, scattered and numerous. The wood is hard, regular, gold glittering and very decorative.
