Characteristics

Courabil can reach a heigth of up to 30 m, the trunk can get a diameter up to 1,5 m. The sapwood and the heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is broad and nearly white or grey. When fresh cut the heartwood goes from orange brown to violet and turns rapidly darker on reddish brown. Mostly it is nerved very decorative with darker veining. Annual rings are only visible with the loupe. The texture is medium-fine and not always constant.
