What’s the difference between the purchasable textures and the free downloads?

Resolution! The free version has only about 1/10th of the resolution of the original full-res texture, which amounts to only 1% of the total pixels. For example, the free version has a resolution of 600px x 600px, whereas the original map is 6000px x 6000px.
