Characteristics

The tree grows 20-40 m high and reaches a diameter up to 1,5 m. The sapwood is grey-white, reddish-grey to soft yellow, the heartwood is veined red brown to violet-red, dark red to violet. The texture is light flamy from twisting in growth, the color zones in small stripes, which is very decorative. In young days the bark is rugose, later longitudinal chapped.
